Fulton Homes Awards Final Pool Fence to Deserving Military Family
Fence Patrol Program recognizes Gilbert Family with a Special Needs Child.
A local soldier is about to be deployed to Afghanistan, leaving his wife to care for his two young children, one with special needs. The kids will soon be able to get to the pool that currently has no fence. Now, Fulton Homes is proud to award Chad and Candice Shuman from Gilbert the final fence for their Fence Patrol program of 2011. The young couple just bought a new home which they say will need several repairs and a new pool fence before the kids can go in the back yard. Unfortunately, with so many new and current expenses, the family cannot afford that much-needed pool fence. Fulton Homes will ease some of the Shumans' financial and emotional anxieties by installing a free pool fence at their home on Tuesday, July12 at 7:00 am.

The family was nominated by Candice's' mother, Dawn Perez, who is very concerned for the safety of her two grandchildren around the pool. With Chad being deployed soon, Candice will be left alone to care for their two children.
"Fulton Homes is honored to award a family that is not only well deserving, but one who serves our country daily," said Douglas Fulton, CEO of Fulton Homes. "Every year, we do our best to keep Valley families safe from water related accidents with our Fence Patrol program. We are thrilled the name the Shumans as our final winners for the 2011 summer season."
The annual Fence Patrol program, established by Tempe-based Fulton Homes, aims to improve child safety around pools and promote pool safety awareness throughout the summer, when drowning risk is highest.
Arizona Pool Fence Laws state that all residential pools must be enclosed by a barrier. Families with children under six must also have a barrier blocking access to the pool from the house. Some cities allow door alarms in place of the pool barrier. Also, certain homes are exempt depending on when they were built. However, most homes must be brought up to code if remodeled or sold.
Interested parties in the Fulton Homes Fence Patrol have until July 4, 2011 to nominate themselves or someone else for a pool fence, by logging on to
