Indoor Air Quality Gains Importance as Arizona
Residential Market Continues Seeing Influx of Demand

A convergence of factors make Fulton Homes' devotion to indoor

Amid unprecedented demand for residential home listings, Fulton Homes, Arizona's largest family-owned and -operated homebuilder, has reaffirmed its commitment to building healthy homes in the Valley.

A recent Forbes article cited indoor air quality as a primary home wellness design trend for 2021. Safe, clean air inside newly constructed homes has become a key point of emphasis, and regulators in other states have begun to address how filter technology can protect new homebuyers.

Per the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service, Inc. (ARMLS), January 2021 saw the lowest number of new residential listings (7,949) compared with any January in the last 11 years (since 2011), as well as the highest new residential average listing price ($471,429) and the highest median new residential listing price ($347,700) within the same time frame.

"We feel it is important to reinforce that, while the market remains incredibly active, we, as local homebuilders, will continue to lean on the legendary Fulton quality," said Doug Fulton, chief executive officer of Fulton Homes. "That quality includes an emphasis on indoor air excellence."

Fulton Homes won the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Indoor airPLUS Leader of the Year – Builder award two out of the three years that the award has existed: 2018 and 2020.

An Indoor airPLUS-certified home minimizes pollutants and common allergens that get inside. It also improves comfort, with properly engineered HVAC systems and improved duct installation. The air-handling equipment and ductwork are inspected to ensure there is no debris from construction inside and that air flow is adequate.

Today's homes are constructed more carefully than ever, with superior caulking, insulation and sealing of holes, which contributes to energy efficiency. Because the homes are sealed so tightly, fresh air needs to be pumped inside. Fulton Homes installs up to 16 SEER high-efficiency air conditioning units to ensure year-round comfort.
