Latest 'Teacher of the Week'

Janece Larson sends congratulation letters six years later

One day before graduating Dobson High School in May, Larissa Garza received an envelope while sitting in one of her classes. She looked around and noticed that some of her former 6th grade classmates were holding similar white envelopes in their hands, too. She excitedly opened it up to find a letter from Crismon Elementary teacher Janece Larson congratulating Larissa on her success, along with pictures of Larissa and her classmates from 6th grade. Also include was a message Larissa had written to her "future self" predicting what she would be like as a senior in high school.

Fulton Homes has now honored Janece Larson as its latest winner of the "Teacher of the Week" program. This is the 14th consecutive year Fulton Homes has sponsored the educational program that pays tribute to Valley school teachers for their hard work and dedication.

During the school year the program highlights teachers who inspire their pupils in unique ways. Students, parents, and fellow educators can nominate their favorite instructor each week for his or her chance at winning $300 from Fulton Homes, along with other prizes. The chosen educator will be announced each Friday from 6:20 to 7:20 a.m. on KNIX's Ben and Matt in the Morning Show, heard at 102.5 FM. The nominations for your favorite teacher can be suggested each week by visiting www.knixcountry.com, and submitting a brief form describing why this teacher deserves the title.

In May a 'Teacher of the Year' will be chosen from the list of weekly winners, and the victor will be presented with a $1,000 check at a ceremony honoring all the weekly winners. Based on the entries received, a panel of judges will select a winner and the chosen teacher will be declared and celebrated at the banquet.
